I. FAQ

Q: Where is the Corvette located?

A: The Corvette is located in Kessel. The Imperial Corvette (the one the Rebels have to blow up, named the Star Ravager) spawns at /wp 7340 7550 6268 in Kessel. It is possible that it could spawn at a different point on different servers, but on Naritus, I have been part of 4 teams that have destroyed it and 3 of the times we were able to wait at that specific spawn point and all 3 times, it appeared there. The Rebel Corvett (the one the Imperials have to blow up, named Corellian Corvette), spawns roughly at /wp 4870 -5056 -4765 in Kessel.

Q: How do I get to Kessel?

A: For Rebels, Kessel is only accessable by traveling to the Dantooine System and heading to the "deep space station" POI. The deep space station will appear in your Data Pad in the POI section. When you arrive at the deep space station, you will need to /comm with the station (or Shift + C which is default), and then select "kessel" as the destination

Imperials get to Kessel from the Empire Deep Space station in Endor space. When killed, the Imperials return to Endor

Freelancers get there from the Neutral Deep Space Station in Dathomir. When killed freelancers return to Dathomir.

Q: Can anyone enter Kessel?

A: Anyone can enter Kessel. But be advised that everything that spawns there is Tier 5.

Q: Can I solo the Corvette?

A: Yes, however you must know HOW to. See below in the tactics section for a more detailed description with regards to strategy

Q: What weapons work best on the Corvette?

A: Missles and Proton Torpedoes will do more damage, however doing "flyby's" and using blasters is also effective. Blasters however, require one to actually "aim" at the specific components.

Q: What happens if I have the mission and I die while fighting the Corvette? Do I lose the mission?

A: Whenever you die in kessel, you respawn at the particular deep space station that you used to travel to kessel. For rebels, its in Dantooine, for Imperials, its Endor and for Freelancer, its Dathomir. As a rebel, you spawn at the Dantooine Space station (cannot fully repair) and it is only about 6000m away from the Deep Space station that is used to travel to Kessel. As an Imperial, you spawn at the Endor station (100% repairs), hypering to Derillium Sea after reparis will put you about 2500m from the Deep Space station in Endor. You do not lose the mission.

Q: Does the Corvette Spawn the moment I enter Kessel?

A: No, the Corvette is on roughly a 2 hour Spawn timer. But with the rate the developers like to "tweak" such spawn rates, its possible that the rate will change. I will do my best to keep the times current. The Vettes spawn an hour apart. So if the Star Ravager spawns at 1:00 pm central time, the Corellian Corvette will spawn at roughly 2:00 pm central time. There is a 45 mintue time limit as to the vette staying in the system, and afterwards, it will be 1 hour 15 mintues until the vette for the specific faction respawns in Kessel.

This has been changed in chapter 9 and the corvette spawns now each 30 minutes.

Q: Do we have a time limit to destroy the Corvette?

A: YES. The Corvette will hyperspace out of the system after a certain ammount of time after it spawns. From my experience and other peoples input, we believe that it stays in Kessel for roughly 45 mintues from the time it spawns, to the time it hyperspaces out. Once it hyperspaces out, all progress on that current Corvette is lost. We found this out the hard way.

Q: How many different types of corvettes are there?

A: There are Two (2) different ones, one for each of the factions. The Rebels must destroy the Star Ravanger Corvette. The Imperials must destroy the Corellian Corvette. The Freelancers are able to choose which Master mission they do either Rebel or Imperial, and depending on the mission they choose, they have to destroy the applicable Corvette.

Q: Does the Corvette Spawn Alone?

A: No. The Corvette spawns with Two (2) tier 5 gunboats, and a few fighter escorts. All ships that spawn in Kessel will be tier 5.

Q: I'm a freelancer, where is my Master Trainer?

A: There is no Freelancer Master Trainer, at master level they either take goto the Rebel or Imperial Master level Trainer and take the same Master Level quests. So they will either be going after the Imperial or Rebel Corvette depending on which trainer they went to. There is NO Freelancer Corvette. Check the guide Space trainers locations for further info.

Q: Do I have to be in Kessel when the Corvette is destroyed to get credit for the quest?

A: You must be in Kessel the moment that the Corvette is destroyed. You must ALSO do some damage to at least one subsystem in on the Vette inorder to get credit.

II. Preface

The second (and final) mission that your master level trainer gives you involves the destruction of an NPC Corellian Corvette. This is no easy task. The Corellian Corvette is equipped with Eight ( Turbo Laser Batteries. In addition, the Corvette will spawn with a small fleet of fighter escorts. There will be Two (2) tier 5 gunboats, and a small number of star fighters.
NOTE for Freelancers: As stated above, the Freelancer does NOT have a Master level trainer. A freelancer will have to seek out either the Rebel or Imperial Master Level trainer and take the mission. WP's to the master level trainers to come - however in the Hotel in Doaba, there is a (the?) Master Level Trainer for Rebels, the Master Level trainer for Imperials is located in the back of the Theed Palace
This is not something that one should beable to solo, however, experienced pilots will have no problem doing so. Imperials have a much easier time doing see the imperial tips in section V for a few hints it because of the ability to call in bomberstrike in Kessel. Ideally, you would want to bring a group to maximize your fun and to efficiently dispose of all fighter escorts.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For other missions, if you die, then you must retake missions. This is not the case with the corvette master mission. You can clone zerg the corvette. Clone zerging involves dying, repairing at the space station you warp to after dying, and immediately heading back out to battle.

III. Preparation

Get a group if possible. A nice mix of star fighters is adventageous. I would say there are 3 types of starfighters that can be used. Fast attack crafts (such as a-wings), medium attack crafts (such as x-wings) and heavy attack crafts (such as b-wings and y-wings). The Fast attack crafts are very useful when it comes to combating the NPC escort fighters (x-wings, y-wings, ties) that will accompany the Corvette. Make sure to load up on Missles and Proton torpedoes. Space bombs are also an option, but remember the ammo magazine is roughly 3 or 4 uses. They are vital to the success of the mission. The medium attack fighters provide a great balance when combating the NPC escort fighters and then using missles on the Corvette. The heavy attack fighters server one purpose, to use their aresenal (missles and proton torpedoes) to destroy the Turbo Laser batteries on the Corvette.

For heavies starfighters, load your ship up with front end shields and armor. If applicable and possible, a droid programmed with heavy/extreme shield adjust front can be very useful. Get familiar with your ship, and how it maneuvers.

Make sure you have your droid programmed. This is almost vital to managing your shields. As you find that you get higher and have to fight harder NPC star fighters, you will see that you take a ton more damage.

Missile Guide:

Concussion Missiles
Highly effective versus shields, does zero amage to armor.
Comes in Mark I, II, III (Levels 2, 5, variants.
Image-Rec Missiles
Advanced missiles with advanced targeting system
Tracks longer than standard missiles and avoids standard countermeasure systems.
Equally effective versus shields and armor.
Comes in Mark I and II (Levels 4 and 6) variants.
Proton Missiles
Lightweight missiles, which allows the pilot to carry more in his arsenal
Moderately effective versus shields and armor.
Comes in Mark I, II, III, IV (Levels 1, 3, 6, and 9) variants.
Seismic
Highly effective versus armor, weak versus shields.
Comes in Mark I, II, III (Levels 3, 6, 9) variants.
Space Bomb
High yield missiles that are slow and bulky.
Easily deterred by countermeasures and lose track easily.
Effective versus capital ships and slow moving/unaware ships.
Comes in Mark I and II (Level 5 and 10) variants.

Corvette destroying video procedure

I would recommend trying to get the group that you attack the corvette with on a voice program. We used Team Speak 2 and I will flat out say it was very very helpful. Remember back in Star Wars: A New Hope when all the rebels were on the way to destroy the death star? Very reminicient of that, you will actually feel like you are "in the battle".

As an FYI, this may have been the best time I have had in this game since i bought SWG almost a year and a half ago. Better than unlocking Jedi, better than having epic 7 hour pvp battles. I paid 24.99 at best buy for JTL, and doing the master level mission (part 2) was worth every penny.

IV. Finding the Corvette

Apparently, there are static spawn points where the corvettes will spawn. The Star Ravager, which Rebels must destory, spawns at /wp 7340 7550 6270

The Imperial Corvette (Corellian Corvette), which is the Corvette that Imperials must destory, spawns roughly at /wp 4870 -5056 -4765

Once the corvette spawns into the world, it will stay for roughly 30 mintues, and then proceed to hyperspace out. It will return in roughly 30 minutes later.

V. Destroying the Corvette

Vette destruction video

So now that you are briefed, its time to blow this thing up. When you finally find the Corvette that you are looking for, this is where the fun begins. Remember, the Corvette is on a timer before it will hyperspace out of the system. Try to lure the smaller fighters out. Make sure to protect your "bombers", aka the heavier attack crafts that carry all the missles. Depending on faction, your approach will be different.

For Rebels, a very useful protocol should be as follows:

Destroy ALL fighter escorts (not including gunboats).
Destory Weapon 5 on the corvette, this is located on the belly of the corvette towards the front of the ship.
Destory the Primairy Shield and the Secondary Shield on the Corvette, then disable the Engines. The Vette will become immobile, however the gunboats will continue on the path. You will have successfully isolated the Vette.
From this point on, it should be elementry. The Vette will be stationary and at the mercy of your group.
For Imperials, a very useful protocol should be as follows:

Call Bomberstrike on Weapon 5. This will draw aggro, and when Bomberstrike is done, you will probably have a Corvette with zero weapon systems left. Bomber strike is very very effective versus the weapon systems on the vette.
Destroy the Primairy Sheild and the Secondary Shield, then disable the Engines. Then follow the instructions above in the "rebel" protocol section.

I would also recommend, if applicable, adjusting your shields to the front. The majority of the damage you will be taking will be hitting you head on. Gunboats and Turbolasers will try to pound you from the front. And if your craft is slow (ie a y-wing), more likely than not you will be pounded.

Now, on to the specifics of the Corvette.

The Corvette is a unique ship. When you originally target it, there will be Nine (10) targetable subsystems. The are Two (2) shields and Eight ( turbo lasers, numbered 0-7. The reason that the corvette is so unique, is the fact that inorder to knock out the weapons, you DO NOT have to destroy the shields first. You can flat out go in after the individual weapon systems. The primairy target should always be weapon system 5. If you are under the Vette, there is a blind spot that allows neither the Vette nor the accompanying gunboats to hit you. The more you do the vette, the more you will get used to the blindspots.

So the components one must take out:

Eight Turbo Laser Batteries
Shield 1
Shield 2
Engine
Reactor
Bridge

Additional Information and Tips:

Specific Targeting Information: Weapons: To kill a weapon, you have to have a direct shot at it. Go for weapons 0 through 3 and 5 first. These are all close together, so it's easy to hit more than 1 in a single pass. You don't have to have a particular weapon targetted in order to destroy it with your guns. You just have to know where it is. You need as strong front shields and armor as possible. Weapons 6 and 7 appear to only be able to shoot forward. I've never been hit by them when attacking from the sides and rear. Because of this, leave weapons 6 and 7 for last. The weapons are relatively exposed and fragile. Any NPCs in the area are likely to knock out some of the weapons for you. Shields: The shield generators are located at the front of the diamond-shaped area of the corvette, one on the starboard side, and one on the port side. If you are using guns, the shields can only be damaged by an arc extending a little bit to each side. If you are using projectiles, getting a lock and blowing the shields allows you to be a bit less precise. Since the vette is still moving at this point, they can be hard to target at times. Engines: Located in the obvious place, the rear of the ship They can only be damaged by your guns shooting directly into the exhaust of the engine. Reactor: Use the targeting recticle to see which side of the 'vette the ship is on. You can only damage the reactor by shooting from directly above it. Imagine a line through the main axis of the 'vette, you have to be perpendicular to it. Bridge: Can only be damaged by your guns from the front. You have to shoot through the window.

TIPS FOR REBELS:

From my personal experience, I have flow a Y-wing longprobe for my first assualt (the one that netted me master) and an A-wing the other times I've been up against the vette. My technique for the A-wing allows me to get quick strikes in. The key to assualting the corvette for an A-wing is to come in from the side of the ship, with shields adjusted to the front. Come in at full speed and once you hear the missle/proton torpedo lock, fire and pull up (roughly at 600-650 meters). Since your back will be towards the vette, immediately use a shield adjust rear (extreme) and booster out of there.

Edit

TIPS FOR IMPERIALS (thanks to Draconicius for his input):

Addition for Imperial side: Yes we do have it easier due to Bomber Strike. Here is the key. Once your flight wing is in sector have ALL target the vette's weapon system 5 and do a bomber strike. Stray fire WILL put you on target for a moment, but fly out of range and the gunboats will re-acquire the strike packages and forget you) What this means is that once the strike packages are in the area they will attack the packages and ignore (MOST of the time) the PC's.

While the packages are engaged.. have the flight wing blow up the starfighter escort. I found that the starfighters were more troublesome than the gunboats. If you have at least 3 people once the strike packages are done .. the vessel should be at about 50% (Assumption all pilots in the wing have Bomber Strike 2) . From here... use missiles for selective targeting , if you havent already used em on A-wings.

To down a Corvette you MUST take out all components. Use the and keys to target parts selective missile fire is the best way to take down parts. 2 mk 3 protons will take a ship component to about 20% depending on the DMG roll. If you are lucky you will destroy the part.

The turrets will die first from the bomber strike leaving the flight wing available to select different parts of the ship with missiles and take it down.

VI. Rewards

We all love loot. As a reward for finishing this quest, you get a nifty "ace" pilot title you can wear, you get a Badge, and you get factioned loot. The Imperials recieve a Helmet that sorta looks like bad bone armor gone wrong, and the Rebels recieve a very nice looking flight Helmet. Sorta reminds you of "Top Gun". Neutral pilots have will recieve a helmet that reminds you of a futuristic motorcycle helmet.
