In previous pages, you learned how to build up your ship, and prepare it for flight. This lesson will teach you how to go from port to port, and how to take the scenic route and hyperspace. Edit

1. Port to Port travelling

Port to Port. In game, most only need to travel from one location to another. Instead of paying for a ticket to travel, you can now use your ship. When you bought tickets, you had to travel over connected routes… To get to Dantooine from Tatooine you had to buy a ticket to Corellia, then to Dantooine.

Space-ship terminal

With a starship, you can make that trip in one jump, and for free. Simply go to the starship terminal where your ship is parked, and select the ship you are going to use. In the next window, click on “Travel” at the bottom. This will open a galactic map. Click on the planet and starport on that planet that you wish to fly to. When done selecting the starport, click “Travel” at the bottom and you be magically whisked away to the final location.

The Scenic Route is more time consuming, but it allows you to actually fly your ship. Follow the same steps above, but instead of hitting “Travel”, select “Launch” instead. This will put you in your selected ship, near the space station for the planet that you just left. Welcome to the cold of space! From here you can practice flight maneuvers, attack other starships, or make your way across that galaxy to your destination.

Galactic Map

Galactic Map

Let’s assume you are in Tatooine Space and you want to land on Dantooine. You need to hyperspace to the Dantooine system. Hit “H” on your keyboard to open the galactic map. From here you have to select a system and a quadrant that you wish to hyperspace to. When selecting a hyperspace quadrant, read the description at the bottom of the map. You may find out that the station for your destination is a great deal of distance away, or is a hostile quadrant. Use caution when making such selections. When selected, click the “Hyperspace” button at the bottom of the screen.

The window will disappear and system messages will begin to pop up. The navigation computer is trying to figure out the best hyperspace route to the desired location. It takes about 60 seconds and the system messages will prompt you on the progress. To abort a hyperspace jump, you must type “/aborthyper” on the chat line. Once the computer is ready for the jump, the autopilot takes over. Once this occurs you can no longer manipulate your ship until you come out of hyperspace. Enjoy the graphics.

When you come out of hyperspace you will be in the desired system and quadrant. Each space station is a POI so you can obtain a waypoint to your space station from your datapad. In your datapad, you can choose to let the autopilot take you there, or manually fly your ship in.

Once you are within 1100 meters of your space station, you can target the station (hit “c” on the keyboard) and use the command “/comm”. A helpful station manager will speak with you to determine your intentions and allow you to land at your starport of choice.

Note: some starports require a quest to be completed before you can land there like the Rebel Outpost on Rori and the Abandoned Rebel Base on Dantooine.

After selecting your port of choice and confirming you want to land, the system will take over and place you on the ground at that starport.

3. Using Space Stations

Space stations allow you to land as discussed above, but if your ship is damaged, it will allow you to have your ship repaired for a nominal fee. This option will appear when you /comm the station if you have any damage. Only some stations will fully repair your ship. Tatooine, Rori, Corellia, and Naboo stations all fully repair your ship. All others only repair your ship to 75%. At 75% you are still flyable, but should hyperspace to another system to get the full repair completed.

If you are killed in space, you will automatically appear at the closest planetary station with your broken ship. Have repairs done as best as possible so you can be underway again at that point. If you land before getting repaired, you will need to buy repair kits and repair your components individually yourself, or buy new components before you can move your ship again. It is best to repair your ship at every opportunity.

Trick: if you do the command /escapepod yes each time you wanna land, your ship will be automatically repaired. You will be restored at the closed Space Station as well.

4. Using Factional Space Stations

Factional stations allow you to go special forces in space. This will allow a rebel pilot to earn faction points when they kill an imperial ship, but will make the pilot become vulnerable to imperial players who are also flying as special forces. Use care when you do this.

In Dantooine space, there is a “Deep Space” station POI. This is the station you need to fly to if you wish to go to Kessel Space (warning: Kessel is full of Tier 5 ships, including Corvettes) or to Deep Space (Deep Space access is reserved for Ace Pilots only, and contains aggressive enemies as well as a Star Destroyer).

In Endor space there is a "Deep Space" station POI for Imperials as well.

Now you are ready for learning the Basic Space combat tactics
